According to a Portuguese source, Bayern Munich's João Palhinha has rejected a 'significant offer' from Saudi Arabia.

Palhinha, who spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, is not considered to be part of Vincent Kompany's plans next season.

However, ‘Maisfutebol’ believes the midfielder prioritizes being close to his family and playing more competitive football in Europe.

Palhinha is aware of Benfica's interest and is open to a return to the Primera Liga, but there are some complications to that potential deal.

The Portuguese from the nation's capital side has yet to meet Bayern's €25million asking price set for the 31-year-old.

Accordingly, the German record champions would have to reduce their demands in order to make the move to Benfica happen.

Until further notice, Palhinha is confirmed to return to Bayern and train with the first team, with whom he has a contract until June 2028.
