Bernardo opens door to transfer amid Gladbach links

Bernardo does not guarantee that he will stay in Bochum amid reports linking him with a move to Gladbach.

VfL Bochum defender Bernardo has said he is open to a summer transfer if the right opportunity arises.

Having been linked with a move to Borussia Mönchengladbach, the 26-year-old has cast doubt on his future at Bochum. He told Bild:

"Every player has to see what he can do. If I can achieve more athletically at another club and VfL can afford two Bernardos with the money, then why not?"

"Bochum means a lot to me. The fans are unbelievable, I'm very happy. There aren't many better clubs than VfL. But that's football: if someone is interested, I'll listen to them," explained Bernardo, who is keeping his options open for this summer.

“I can't promise anything. If everything fits for VfL, me and another club, I can't rule anything out. Otherwise, I'll stay.”

It's been reported that Bochum are demanding a fee in the double-digit millions for the Brazilian defender.

In order to create funds to finance Bernardo, Gladbach could offload Nico Elvedi, who has been linked with Wolverhampton.
