VfL Bochum have officially confirmed the signing of Michael Steinwender as their sixth incoming transfer of the summer.

The 26-year-old joins the second division Rhurpott club from Scottish Premiership side Hearts of Midlothian.

The Austrian has signed a contract until 30 June 2029, and will wear the number 15 jersey. The transfer fee remains undisclosed.

Last season, Steinwender featured in a nail-biting finale on the last matchday, ultimately losing the title to Celtic Glasgow.

“Michael impressed us with his overall package as a modern center-back," said Simon Zoller, Director of Football at VfL Bochum.

"He is tall, fast, athletic and has a courageous pressing style. At 26 years old, he has already gained some international experience

"Now he wants to take on responsibility and leadership tasks at VfL. We are very much looking forward to that.”
