According to sources at Gazzetta dello Sport, AS Roma are showing interest in Borussia Dortmund's wantaway star Julian Brandt.

The report further states that there have already been contacts between the 29-year-old's representatives and the Serie A club.

With over 300 appearances for Dortmund in his 7 years at the club, Brandt could be the man to replace Paulo Dybala who is set to leave Roma on a free transfer.

It is already known that Brandt will leave BVB this summer when his contract expires, which the player and club confirmed in March.

"There were open discussions and we agreed that the expiring contract would not be extended," BVB chief Lars Ricken told Sky at the time.

“He played a few hundred games for Borussia Dortmund. We can only be grateful to him. He played for us for seven years. In a few weeks he'll turn 30.

“We'll be reorienting ourselves. This can also be an opportunity for both sides. We're parting with a great deal of respect,” said the club's sporting director.

Should the move to the Italian capital club work out, Brandt would follow in the footsteps of former BVB stars Mats Hummels and Donyell Malen.
