TSG Hoffenheim coach Christian Ilzer has outlined his big ambitions in an interview with Kicker.

It's been a challenging season for Hoffenheim, who are 14th in the Bundesliga after 27 games.

But Ilzer, who took over as coach in November, isn't afraid to aim high and is determined to help the club make significant progress in the coming seasons.

"I want Hoffenheim back on the international stage in three years' time. And I want Hoffenheim to be challenging for the German championship in five years' time," said Ilzer.

“At Sturm Graz I was the steam engine pulling a long train. Here I'm on an ocean liner. I have to see where I can adjust things to keep the ship going in the right direction.”

In their best ever Bundesliga season, Hoffenheim finished third in 2017/18 under current Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann.
