Borussia Dortmund are looking to strengthen their defence this summer and are specifically targeting a player with a similar profile to Ramy Bensebaini.

According to Marca, the Black and Yellows have set their sights on a promising young defender they believe fits the bill: Diego Aguado of Real Madrid.

The Spanish outlet reports that Dortmund have submitted a €6 million bid for the 18-year-old, who is left-footed and capable of playing both as a centre-back and at left-back - just like Bensebaini.

Aguado currently plays for Real Madrid’s U19 team, but Marca adds that he is expected to join the senior squad for the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States, meaning any potential transfer to Dortmund would likely happen only after the tournament.

Although Aguado only signed his first professional contract in April - a deal that ties him to Madrid until 2029 - the Spanish giants are reportedly open to a sale.

However, it remains unclear whether Dortmund’s €6 million offer will be enough to convince Real to part ways with one of their top academy prospects. Should a deal be agreed, a buyback clause would likely be included.
