Panathinaikos are very close to signing Aurelio Buta from Eintracht Frankfurt. According to Sky, the transfer fee will only be €1 million plus add-ons. The former Portugal U20 international spent the previous season on loan at Stade Reims.

A relegation to Ligue 2 reduced the chances of him joining Reims despite his starting role. The Greek giants will now complete the deal for a reduced fee, as Frankfurt has decided not to lose the fullback on a free transfer next year.

Buta joined Frankfurt as a free agent after the end of his contract at Royal Antwerp in 2022. Due to a knee injury, he had to wait until the second half of his debut season to make his first appearance for the club. However, he quickly won his place as he played 48 Bundesliga games before last season’s loan.
