Hoeneß content with financial windfall from sale of academy talents

The likes of Maurice Krattenmacher were among the FC Bayern academy players who were sold last summer, helping the reigning Bundesliga champions to extract some extra revenue.

Uli Hoeneß informed Kicker that he's very happy with the funds Bayern Munich managed to raise in the summer by selling campus players.

Hoeneß labelled it the “summer of the century” although he was more eager to about produce players for the first team than generating sales.

Hoeneß calls the resulting income “a nice side effect,” adding that the academy has long since paid for itself in the process.

In an era of exorbitant salaries within football, it can also help ease the financial burden on the German record champions' first-team budget.

However, Bayern are still fully intent on developing players for themselves, for other clubs and for their own coffers.

As to be expected, the Bavarians' campus will not always be able to deliver a transfer window like the one they had last summer.

But the work being done there suggests that this source will continue to flow rather than dry up and cease to produce or develop quality.

Ultimately, the Campus should continue to produce rising stars akin to that of Aleksandar Pavlović and Lennart Karl.
