Ahead of VfB Stuttgart's UEFA Europa League meeting with FC Basel, coach Sebastian Hoeneß discussed the derby-like fixture, their role as favourites and the support of their fans.

"I don't think much of these games [as favourites]. We're playing the Swiss double winners. The atmosphere here at St. Jakob-Park is really great. We have to be prepared.

"FC Basel is a good team that plays good football. We have to prevent them from getting into their flow. If we can do that, we have a good chance. We have to play to our limits.

“[The 7,000 away fans] will lead to extra motivation. These are the games we wanted. They are evenings we've trained and worked towards. We're looking forward to them,” he said.

After clarifying that only Deniz Undav is unavailable for the game, Hoeneß discussed Bilal El Khannouss' influence on the Swabian side and the talent he possesses.

"Bilal is a very open person who integrated thanks to his personality. He laughs a lot and beams. He has really good footballing qualities, which he's already shown in the Premier League.

“He's a very exciting young man – he's had a great start, and we're happy to have him in our ranks,” added Hoeneß.
