Lewis Holtby will not be a Holstein Kiel player beyond the summer, Sky Germany have announced.

The 34-year-old said he made the decision with his family and his time at the club was “most formative and most beautiful”.

With Kiel in the midst of a relegation battle, Holtby said the “big goal” is to remain in the Bundesliga and to “rock together” in the final 9 matchdays.

It hasn’t been the best of seasons for the German veteran who, despite 92 appearances for the club, has spent a lot of the season on the bench.
