Kobel not pushing for summer transfer despite exit links

Reports have linked Gregor Kobel with a move away from Borussia Dortmund, but the Swiss international isn't planning to leave this summer, according to Kicker.

"These were four incredible years. The Champions League final, almost winning the title, and this year was a completely different kind of season. It was definitely exciting - and never boring," said Gregor Kobel after Borussia Dortmund's final Bundesliga match of the season.

Some interpreted his words as a possible farewell, especially as the Swiss international has been linked with several clubs in recent months.

However, according to Kicker, the media reaction “irritated” Kobel. The 27-year-old goalkeeper is said to feel comfortable at Dortmund and is not planning to leave this summer.

Currently, everything indicates that Kobel will stay for at least one more season. A key factor is Dortmund’s late qualification for the Champions League. Without it, retaining Kobel would have proven far more difficult.

Kobel’s agent has reportedly previously held talks with Chelsea and Newcastle United.

It is believed it would take an offer in the region of €60-70 million to convince Dortmund to sell the shot-stopper, who remains under contract until 2028.

For now, though, Kobel does not appear to be actively pushing for a move.
