FC Köln got back to winning ways with a 4-1 victory over Hamburger SV this afternoon to the delight of their coach Lukas Kwasniok.

“The drama was completely on our side today,” he said in his post-match press conference, but confessed that HSV were short on luck.

"We deservedly took the lead in the first half, and after the break, our beautiful free-kick goal had essentially turned the game around.

"But then our heads got the better of us. As [HSV coach] Merlin [Polzin] said, external factors were definitely on our side today.

"Two disallowed goals, two red cards – what HSV still managed to show and play with two men down was remarkable.

“Of course, this opened up even more space for us, which we then exploited to make it 3-1 and 4-1 in the end,” said Kwasniok.

The result sees Effzeh climb into seventh place on 14 points ahead of next weekend's Rhineland derby with Borussia Mönchengladbach.
