RB Leipzig have confirmed that Castello Lukeba sustained a muscle injury in his left adductor during Saturday's 2-1 Bundesliga win over Werder Bremen.

The exact timeframe for the centre-back’s return is unclear, but the club stated he is “very unlikely” to feature against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.

According to Kicker, Lukeba’s injury is minor – a small muscle fiber tear– so a lengthy absence is not expected. If his recovery goes according to plan, he could be available for Leipzig’s next game against Eintracht Frankfurt on April 18.

For the Gladbach match, Nicolas Seiwald is expected to drop back into central defence alongside Willi Orban, as he did in Bremen after Lukeba was forced off.

The midfield gap could be filled by Ezechiel Banzuzi – or Brajan Gruda if he recovers from his muscular issues in time for the game.
