Phillipp Mwene will be unavailable for 1.FSV Mainz 05's upcoming matches, the Rhineland-Palatinate club has confirmed.

The Austrian suffered a muscle injury in his adductor area during Mainz's home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach last Friday.

The wing-back was replaced by Arnaud Nordin in the 66th-minute with no apparent injury sustained at the time.

This was confirmed by thorough examinations conducted by the club's medical staff over the last few days.

When the 31-year-old will return to training depends on his individual recovery progress over the coming weeks.

Mainz round off 2025 with games against Lech Poznan, Bayern Munich, Samsunspor and St. Pauli in the Conference League and Bundesliga.
