Ahead of their UEFA Nations League semi-final clash with Portugal next Wednesday, Julian Nagelsmann addressed the media.

Germany's head coach revealed at his press conference that he can already confirm Marc-Andre Ter Stegen will start in goal.

“He'll be the number one. I'm confident he'll have two top games. He's doing well in training, even though he hasn't played much," he said.

Nagelsmann went on to set out Germany's aims for the international window and praised Joshua Kimmich ahead of earning his 100th-cap.

“The goal is to win the Nations League title. We want to perform, deliver results and win titles, even though it's a 'small' title - for us as a group it's very important.

"Spain proved how important the Nations League can be when they won it before winning the Euros [in 2024].

“When I look at the faces of our players, I see motivation and excitement. I'm looking forward to the atmosphere in the stadium.

“He's [Kimmich] a great captain, not just for what he does on the pitch - but also for the fact he's a role model for other players,” he added.

Finally, the 37-year-old chipped in on the transfer rumours surrounding Florian Wirtz and left it open for the youngster to decide his own future.

“I've never told a player to move here or there. What's important is that he plays - and plays a similarly important role to the one he played in Leverkusen. We know that he's one of the best players in the world,” Nagelsmann said.
