DFB willing to release Stefan Kuntz from his contract amid Turkey talks

Germany under-21 coach Stefan Kuntz will be released from his contract with the DFB if he reaches an agreement to become Turkey coach.

The German Football Association (DFB) has paved the way for Stefan Kuntz to become new Turkey coach.

In a statement on Friday, the DFB announced that Kuntz will be released from his contract as Germany under-21 coach if he reaches an agreement with the Turkish Football Association.

"Due to Stefan Kuntz's success with the Germany U21 national team and his special relationship with Turkey, the DFB does not wish to obstruct his next career step," the statement read.

"The possibility of an early release from the contract is a symbol of friendship between German and Turkish football."

Kuntz, who the European Under-21 Championship with Germany in June, still has two years left on his contract.
