RB Leipzig have received a boost ahead of their crucial Bundesliga clash with VfB Stuttgart on Sunday, with Xaver Schlager back in contention after a two-game injury break.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Leipzig coach Ole Werner confirmed that the central midfielder is fit to play – either from the start or off the bench.

“Xaver is back in full training. It wasn’t a very long break,” Werner said.

“It’s good that he’s back. He showed very strong performances before his break. His return strengthens our central midfield at a crucial stage, which is very positive.”

Like Schlager, Assan Ouedraogo has also returned to training, but this weekend's game comes too soon for the youngster.

Leipzig will also still be without Peter Gulacsi and Kosta Nedeljkovic.
