Augsburg vs. Heidenheim preview: Can the Fuggerstädter claim a third straight victory?
Augsburg will attempt to claim a third consecutive victory when they play host to Heidenheim on Saturday afternoon.

Augsburg managed to end a four-game winless run with a 2-1 victory in their most recent home meeting with Freiburg. Jess Thorup's side then backed up that result with a dominant 6-0 away win against basement side Darmstadt last weekend. They raced into a five-goal lead inside the opening half-hour thanks to an Ermedin Demirović brace as well as strikes from Phillip Tietz, Fredrik Jensen and Rubén Vargas. Tietz went on to grab his second in the 84th minute to round off a comprehensive victory.
Having picked up 29 points from 24 matches, Augsburg are sitting in 10th place and four points adrift of the top seven, which could become a European place if Bayer Leverkusen go on to win the DFB-Pokal. After enjoying a successful away trip last weekend, Augsburg will now return to the WWK Arena, where they will have the chance to record back-to-back home league victories for the first time since February and March 2023.
Team News
The hosts are unable to call upon Raphael Framberger, Reece Oxford and Patric Pfeiffer, while Mads Pedersen is suspended. Fredrik Jensen is also a doubt due to an Achilles tendon injury.
Heidenheim
Heidenhem are sitting one point behind Augsburg in 11th place after failing to win any of their last three matches. They followed a defeat to Bayer Leverkusen with a draw against Union Berlin, before they fell to a 2-1 loss in last Saturday’s home meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt. As a result of that narrow defeat to die Adler, Heidenheim have now won just one of their last eight games (D5, L2).
Although they are finding wins hard to come by, Frank Schmidt’s side have proven to be a tough team to beat on their travels, having avoided defeat in each of their last five away games (W2, D3). They will fancy their chances of troubling the scorers on Saturday, having found the net in each of their last nine competitive away matches.

The visitors will have to cope without the services of Lennard Maloney, Jan-Niklas Beste, Thomas Keller and Elidon Qenaj.
