The club from the Black Forest never got going in the end as their opponents West Ham ran riot in a 5-0 (5-1 agg.) win.

Freiburg's Europa League odyssey came to a shuddering hault this evening at the Olympic Stadium. The Breisgauers' narrow first-leg lead counted for little on the night as they met a ruthless West Ham who dispatched them with ease.

It took just under ten minutes for the hosts to take the lead and restore parity in the two-legged tie. In truth, Christian Streich would have hoped his side held out for a longer period. Aaron Cresswell's corner was met by Soucek whose deft flick decisively found the unmarked Lucas Paquetá at the back post.

The Claret and Blue attacks continued in waves as Kudus wasted a fine chance. David Moyes' side completed the comeback in the 32nd minute - Jarrod Bowen held off Günter, took on Ginter, and wrapped a left-footed strike into the opposing corner of Atubolu's net. The Breisgauers created occasional foray upfield, albeit seldom dangerous. Both Maxi Eggestein and Vincenzo Grifo efforts unable to truly challenge Fabianski before the break.

The second-half failed to materialise in a more favourable manner for Freiburg. The Bundesliga side found themselves further in arrears upon the 52nd minute. Eggestein's frail clearance fell kindly for Cresswell and the full-back guided the ball across Atubolu into the right corner. The scoreboard displayed a resounding 5-0 as Mohammed Kudus added a late brace of his own. The first of which, a mazy wonder-goal that started inside his own half. The Ghanaian's second rounded off a flowing West Ham move.
