With Robert Lewandowski linked with a move away from Bayern München, RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has been mentioned as a possible replacement.

Now, Werner's agent Karlheinz Förster says that Bayern have previously been in contact with his client. Back in 2014, when Werner for Stuttgart, and Michael Reschke had just been appointed as technical director at Bayern, the Bavarian club reached out to the young striker.

"In 2014, when Michael Reschke started at Bayern, there was loose contact between Timo and München. At that time, it would not have been a good idea. It wouldn't have been the right step for Timo," Karlheinz Förster tells SPORT BILD.

When asked about the Bayern rumors, Werner said he wants to focus on the World Cup at the moment.

"If anything, I will address that after the tournament," he said.

Werner joined RB Leipzig from Stuttgart in 2016 and has since scored 42 goals in 77 appearances for 'Die Rote Bullen'.
