The 29-year-old has joined Werder's long injury list after he was forced to pull out of training on Wednesday after picking up a thigh problem.
'The Green-Whites' have been hit by a string of injuries since the start of the season, but there is no 'explainable pattern', claims Florian Kohfeldt.
"Of course we are looking for reasons. We are very self-critical in the way that we work, but there are no noticeable patterns here. Moving forward, we need to try to find solutions," the Werder coach said at a press conference today, as quoted by the club.
"We have conducted several medical tests throughout the week, spoken to the individual players about their conditions and consulted external experts. There's no explainable pattern to be found and I have full faith in all of my staff here," he added.
On the positive side for Werder, Milot Rashica and Philipp Bargfrede are back in the squad for Saturday's game against RB Leipzig while further tests will determine if Maximilian Eggestein will be able to return.
Meanwhile, the likes of Ludwig Augstinsson, Milos Veljkovic, Ömer Toprak and Niklas Moisander remain sidelined.
