The German Football Association (DFB) has now punished the centre-back by suspending him for the next seven weeks which means he won't be able to feature in the Bundesliga again in 2019. The ban doesn't apply for the Europa League.
Additionally, Abraham has been handed a fine of €25,000.
Eintracht Frankfurt have announced an intention to appeal against the decision.
Freiburg's Vincenzo Grifo, who had a bust-up with Abraham after the incident, has been banned for three games.
