German international Timo Werner has been linked with some of Europe's top clubs, but the striker makes it clear that he currently has no intentions of leaving RB Leipzig.

In fact, Werner says he wants to stay at least until 2020 when his current deal runs out. Julian Nagelsmann will leave Hoffenheim to take over as RB Leipzig coach before the 2019/20 season, and Werner is eager to play at least one season under the highly rated coach.

"With the commitment of Julian Nagelsmann, the club has set an exclamation mark. When such a coach comes, you think about playing under him for longer, because I'm convinced that he makes you even better," Werner told Sport Bild and added:

"But my contract with RB runs until 2020 anyway so I'm definitely going to play under him for at least a year. I'll see if his system and ideas suit me and whether we actually someday have a chance of winning the championship and maybe even play regularly in the Champions League."

The 22-year-old doesn't conceal that he has huge ambitions that he may not be able to fullfil at RB Leipzig.

"In Leipzig, I have a good and important role. Many football fans in Germany know me now - maybe even some in Europe. I have this big goal to become known as a real top player in the whole world. But you can only do that if you're in the Champions League final or at least the semi-final. I don't think we're currently ready to reach that in Leipzig," Werner told Sport Bild.

The Leipziger Volkszeitung reported yesterday that Werner is set to sign a new deal with 'Die Roten Bullen' before the start of the new season. However, so far, nothing official has been announced.

Werner has previously been linked with clubs such as Bayern München, Manchester United, Liverpool and AC Milan.
