Multiple sources confirm Leverkusen's purchase of Patrik Schick

A deal to bring the Czech striker over to the Bundesliga is, according to various collective sources, effectively done. Only a few details need to be ironed out before Leverkusen introduce their new attacker
Despite a superb season on loan at RasenBallSport Leipzig, Czech international Patrik Schick returned to parent club AS Roma on August 24th. Die Roten Bullen were reportedly interested in buying the Serie A side out to retain Schick’s services, but were unable to come to terms with the Serie A side seeking €20-25 in transfer fees.

While Julian Nagelsmann & Co. may not have considered the scorer of ten goals and three assists in the 2019/20 Bundesliga campaign a worthwhile investment, it now appears Peter Bosz and the Leverkusen board are willing to hand over the cash. Sport1, Kicker, Transfermarkt, and Ligainsider all report that a deal is near completion.

Die Werkself find themselves flush with transfer money after selling Kevin Volland to AS Monaco for a reported €15 million. Kai Havertz’s conspicuous absence from a weekend squad performance evaluation forced Bosz to concede in a Monday press conference that Leverkusen’s most sought-after commodity is most definitely on the move as well; likely headed to Chelsea for a sum exceeding €100 million.

Given that there is very little chance that Schick alone can hope to supplant the combined offensive output of Havertz and Volland: 22 goals and 37 “scorer punkte” in the most recent campaign. As of yet, there have been no reliable reports of links between Bayer 04 and any other attackers.

While Schick’s imminent transfer has been by no means a secret over the past few days, the sheer number of sources suggesting that the deal is in the bag virtually guarantee that, barring a failed medical, the club should have the 24-year-old over the line soon.
