Official: Hincapie joins Leverkusen

Leverkusen close the deal for another centre-back.
The transfer speculation around Piero Hincapie is now over. Bayer Leverkusen announced today that the 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a 5-year contract.

Hincapie had a breakthrough season with CA Talleres in the Argentine first division and caught the eye of a lot of scouts as he represented Ecuador at the Copa America this summer.

With their second signing in central defense after Odilon Kossounou, Leverkusen have completely filled the major gap left by the departures of Sven Bender, Alexander Dragovic and Tin Jedvaj.

Now, club bosses Rudi Völler and Simon Rolfes can move onto other positions of concern, for instance the winger position, which is understaffed after the departure of Gray and Bailey, and injury to Karim Bellarabi.
