Cenk Özkacar's loan at 1.FC Köln becoming permanent seemed inevitable recently, but now apparently there has been a change of heart.

Spanish radio station Tribuna Deportiva reports that the Bundesliga club will not be exercising their purchase clause for the defender.

However, the Köln-based newspaper Express counters their argument, writing that it does not necessarily mean the transfer has failed.

Talks are said to be ongoing, and Köln wants to keep the player in principle, but not pay the high salary that Özkacar is receiving from Valencia.

According to Sky, the Bundesliga club decided against signing him for sporting reasons but it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
