Roma pull purchase option on Leipzig's Angelino

Spanish wingback Jose "Angelino" Tasende's permanent departure from RB Leipzig has been confirmed.

After moving him to his third loan locale over the past two seasons this past winter, RB Leipzig have finally found a taker for 27-year-old Spanish wingback Angelino. The Galician will move to AS Roma on a permanent basis after nailing down a regular role with I Giallorossi. Various German footballing media sources report that €5-6 million will flow into the coffers of the German Red Bulls; who have recouped roughly a third of the sum they once paid to acquire Angelino from Man City.

Angelino ended up making 101 Bundesliga appearances for Leipzig and loan-club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. He scored seven league goals for RB, registering a most impressive 41 assists across all competitions for both his German clubs across all competitions. Though unquestionably a sporting success during his time in the Bundesrepublik, there were repeated disciplinary issues with Leipzig that eventually lead to the club seeking to offload him. Hoffenenheim and Galatasaray remained uninterested.

“First and foremost, we are delighted for Angelino that he has now found his sporting home in Rome,” RB sporting director Rouven Schröder noted in a statement, “The loan was the right move. He immediately earned a regular spot there and put in strong performances."
