Stuttgart extend with prospect Seimen: "The future of the VfB goalkeeping position."

VfB Stuttgart confirmed a contract extension for their preferred "keeper of the future" on Friday.

Eighteen-year-old Stuttgart goalkeeping talent Dennis Seimen has received a new VfB Stuttgart contract that will keep him tied down to his youth academy side through 2029. Club and player opted to make a profound statement on Friday afternoon with a new deal for the presumed successor to current #1 Alexander Nübel.

Nübel is slated to remain in the Baden-Württemberg capital through the end of the 2025/26 season on an extended loan from his parent club FC Bayern München. There are nevertheless reports that the German giants can recall their own presumed future starting net-minder early should they be ready to replace Manuel Neuer.

Seimen presently sits fourth on the VfB senior team's depth chart behind Nübel, Fabian Bredlow, and Stefan Drlaca. The teenage talent still maintains a clear path towards the first team thanks to his excellent performances in VfB II's promotion campaign to Germany's 3. Liga last season. The German FA also remain impressed with Siemen, who has been capped 16 times at Germany U20 level and below.

Seimen has gotten off to an excellent start for VfB II in the German third division this year. The Heilbronn native produced noteworthy saves in all four of his 3. Liga starts. Germany's Kicker Magazine rates him as one of the top performers. He made a particularly strong impression with a collection of great reflex saves in the opening day fixture against Rostock.

“Dennis has developed excellently at VfB in recent years and has already reached a very high level,” VfB personnel chief Fabian Wohlgemuth noted in a club statement, ”In the 3. Liga games he has played so far, Dennis has impressively demonstrated that he can compete at this level even at a young age. Dennis embodies the future of VfB in the goalkeeping position, which is why it was our clear wish to tie him to the club in the long term."

“The contract extension is a special moment for me," the player himself added, "because I have been wearing the VfB shirt for a very long time and feel at home here. My dream has always been to make the leap from the youth ranks to the goal of the professional team. I will continue to work hard to one day stand in front of the Cannstatter Kurve in goal."
