Can Uzun opened Eintracht Frankfurt’s Bundesliga account for the season with a thunderous strike in Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Werder Bremen.

Reflecting on his goal, the 19-year-old attacking midfielder told Sky that hitting the ball so hard is not typical for him.

“I’m not usually a player who strikes the ball that firmly, but it felt really good, and I hit it well,” he said. “It was a very, very nice opening victory - that’s how we want to continue.”

After spending most of last season as a substitute, Uzun dedicated his summer break to developing his game, aiming to take the next step in his career.

And based on his performance against Bremen, which also included two assists, Uzun’s hard work has paid off.

“I really trained a lot and want to show that on the pitch,” he said.

“I hope to continue producing performances like this, improve every game and want to listen to my coach.”
