A "very disappointed" Wagner feeling the heat of expectation at Augsburg

Question marks continue to look over the FCA coach's head coach - a tricky Bundesliga meeting with BVB on Friday will possibly be a last chance to save his reputation.

If last weekend's thumping 6-0 defeat wasn't enough, pressure on Sandro Wagner at FC Augsburg has since increased after their 1-0 DFB-Pokal loss to VfL Bochum tonight

“We had ambitious goals. We brought in fresh players and adjusted the structure a bit. We wanted to play with a central striker and double up on the wings.

“We managed that quite well to well on a few occasions. But of course, we're very disappointed that we didn't progress. That was the big goal today,” FCA coach Wagner noted.

The mood in the camp was equally low amongst the players. Christian Jakic tried to open up about the loss, but instead found it difficult to revisit the topic.

“So soon after the game, I'm at a loss for words. We're obviously very disappointed. Especially after the loss against Leipzig, we desperately wanted to win today.

"We feel sorry for the fans who supported us throughout the entire 90 minutes. But we don't have much time to reflect.

“We have an important game on Friday [vs Borussia Dortmund], and until then, we need to regroup and work even more closely together," the Croatian midfielder said.
