VfB Stuttgart reportedly beat Belgian and Eredivisie clubs for the signing of the Dutch striker Tim van der Leij. The 20-year-old scored 17 goals in his first season at RKC Waalwijk, who are currently competing in the second division.

According to BILD, the transfer fee will be closer to seven figures with bonuses. However, Stuttgart initially planned to have him for VfB Nachwuchs, the second team competing in the 3. Liga.

If everything goes according to plan, the 1.93-m striker will sign his contract in the coming days. Van der Leij has a contract with RKC Waalwijk until 2028.
