Earlier this month, Bild reported that Newcastle United, Chelsea, Napoli and Olympique Marseille have all shown concrete interest in Werder Bremen centre-back Karim Coulibaly.

Werder’s head of first-team football, Peter Niemeyer, has now responded to the speculation, telling Kicker:

“We are aware that there is movement regarding this personnel matter, but there is currently no indication of what the next steps might be or whether this will already happen in the summer.”

He added:

“It is, of course, clear that a player with this profile attracts great interest and a lot of attention.”

The 18-year-old German U18 international is reportedly valued at around €45 million by Werder.
