Werder Bremen courting Fortuna Düsseldorf skipper Florian Kastenmeier

The F95 captain and goalkeeper has caught the eye of German topflight club SV Werder Bremen.

As reported by DeichStube, Werder Bremen have identified Fortuna Düsseldorf's Florian Kastenmeier as a transfer target this summer.

The 28-year-old has been Düsseldorf's first-choice goalkeeper for a handful of years now and is also their captain.

However, his contract with the 2.Bundesliga side situated on the banks of the Rhine at the end of June this summer.

Should the shot-stopper decide to move to Bremen, he would be expected to fulfil the role of backup as a second-choice option. 

Of the current goalkeeping duo, at least one of Mio Backhaus and/or Karl Hein are expected to remain in the summer.

It was recently reported that 22-year-old Backhaus was recieving attention from the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion as well as AC Milan.

As for Kastenmeier, the Regensburg native has managed to keep just 4 clean sheets in 28 games for 17th-place Düsseldorf.
