SV Werder Bremen have extended the contract of goalkeeper Markus Kolke, underlining the club's appreciation for his contribution beyond matchdays. The 35-year-old joined the club from FC Hansa Rostock in 2024 and has served primarily as Bremen's third-choice goalkeeper.

Although Kolke has not featured in an official match for Werder, he has been included in matchday squads on multiple occasions and remains an important figure within the dressing room. Club officials praised his professionalism and commitment, emphasizing that he has fully met expectations in his role behind the scenes.

With Karl Hein expected to lead the goalkeeping department next season following his permanent move from Arsenal, Kolke's continued presence provides valuable experience and stability. Meanwhile, the departure of Mio Backhaus has further reshaped Bremen's goalkeeping hierarchy.

Kolke himself expressed his satisfaction with life in Bremen, noting that both he and his family feel at home at the club and in the city. His extension highlights Werder's belief that contributions off the pitch can be just as valuable as those on it.
