West Ham United are said to be exploring a deal to sign Werder Bremen's Romano Schmid before Deadline Day.

Schmid has been offered a contract until 2027 and talks are ongoing with the London club, while Lille are also monitoring the situation.

Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg also notes that more unnamed teams are keen on the Austrian international.

Last season, Schmid produced 5 goals and 4 assists in 32 Bundesliga games as Bremen secured an 8th-place finish.

The 25-year-old has made 25 appearances for Austria while scoring two goals in that time.
