Mainz midfielder Tom Krauß has joined 1. FC Köln on loan for the 2025/26 season.

‘Effzeh’ announced the arrival of the 24-year-old on Saturday.

“We are pleased to have secured Tom for ‘FC’. With him, we gain another important option in our central midfield that will bring new impulses to our game,” said 1. FC Köln sporting director Thomas Kessler.

“He brings exactly the qualities we sought for this central position: a strong mentality, excellent tackling ability, and dynamism. Despite his young age, Tom already has valuable experience at a high level and will be able to integrate quickly into our team with his style of play.”

Krauß spent the first half of last season on loan at Luton Town and the second half on loan at VfL Bochum.

Explaining his decision to join Köln, he said:

“Several reasons spoke in favor of FC. Thomas Kessler and the coach gave me a good feeling from the start, which is always important. And, of course, the club, the city - and many friends who live nearby. That’s why I quickly knew: I really want this. Now I’m looking forward to starting with the team on Monday and I’m super excited for the next season.”
