According to Mundo Deportivo, Atlético Madrid are now in advanced negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen's Alejandro Grimaldo.

The Spanish capital club have reportedly already offered Grimaldo a contract until 2029, with an option for a further year.

An official offer to Leverkusen is still pending, but the Rhinelanders are reportedly not averse to selling the set-piece specialist.

With Grimaldo's contract expiring in 2027, this summer is the Leveekusen's last opportunity to receive a reasonable transfer fee.

Furthermore, Atlético Madrid are eagerly looking to strengthen their left-back position during this transfer window.

Following Marc Cucurella's move to arch-rivals Real Madrid, the Spanish capital club's focus has firmly turned to Grimaldo.

Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly demanding at least €10million for their vice-captain, who joined on a free transfer from Benfica in 2023.
