Former Heidenheim winger Jan-Niklas Beste is back in the Bundesliga.

SC Freiburg announced the signing of 26-year-old on a permanent basis from Benfica on Friday.

"Opportunities arise and you shouldn't hesitate to take advantage of them. The chance to add Niklas to our squad was one of those occasions," said Freiburg sporting director Klemens Hartenbach.

“Niklas is a very versatile player and knows the Bundesliga. He has already proven himself on the pitch and now we have to integrate him into our processes. This work will start immediately and we're really looking forward to it.”

    Beste commented:

“I am very keen to play in the Bundesliga and the chemistry was right in the talks with Sport-Club. I remember the Europa-Park stadium from my last appearance here in Freiburg as being very atmospheric and I'm looking forward to experiencing that atmosphere in an SC shirt. It's in my nature to always give my all and that's what I want to bring to Sport-Club from day one.”
