UEFA Nations League: Netherlands beat Serbia from Germany's group, Bundesliga duo score for Austria

Serbia suffered a second home defeat in the space of three days as the Netherlands recorded their first win of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League campaign. Xavi had to make an early substitution as Cody Gakpo, who scored the late equalizer against Germany, suffered a first-half injury.

Ruben van Bommel entered in his place after his trivela assist when he made his debut on Thursday. Mexx Meerdink also had plenty of chances to score on his first senior appearance against Germany, and he scored both goals here to secure the 2-1 victory for the Oranje.

Germany host Greece at WWK-Arena in Augsburg with the other matchday 2 fixture from the group. Jürgen Klopp made five changes from his first starting XI, while the visitors have BVB winger Konstantinos Karetsas in their lineup.

Meanwhile, Wolfsburg fullback Joakim Mæhle and Hoffenheim’s attacker Adam Daghim helped Denmark to a 2-0 victory over Wales. The Red-Whites are now level on points with Portugal and Norway before the duo go head-to-head in the first-ever meeting between Cristiano Ronaldo and former BVB striker Erling Haaland.

In League B action, Austria beat Kosovo 3-1 as Bundesliga midfielders Junior Adamu (Schalke) and Carney Chukwuemeka (BVB) scored their first competitive goals for Ralf Rangnick's side.
