Culbreath to miss start of season for Leverkusen

The youngster picked up an injury in yesterday’s friendly victory over Sevilla.

As confirmed by the club today, midfielder Montrell Culbreath will miss the start of Leverkusen’s Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal campaigns. The 18-year-old was substituted in the 36th minute of Die Werkself’s 2-1 friendly victory over Sevilla.

The club have not yet revealed the exact nature of Culbreath’s injury or how long he is expected to be sidelined, with further examinations required before a precise diagnosis can be made.

There was better news for Leverkusen regarding Robert Andrich, with the club confirming that no structural injury was found following his 76th-minute substitution against Sevilla.

The midfielder will nevertheless train individually over the coming days and will therefore miss Leverkusen’s upcoming trip to England, where they are scheduled to face Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United.
