Vincent Kompany has no doubt in his mind that Jonas Urbig is destined for big things after receiving his German national team call-up.

“If someone believes that he won't become number one at some point, he's making a big mistake,” Kompany told Sky Germany.

"The boy will be number one at some point, but Jürgen Klopp [DFB head coach] will decide whether that is in one or five years.

You also have to plan for the future with the national team. His nomination is a reasonable, stable decision.

“I would do it the same way. As a country, you also have to protect and develop your own talent a bit,” Bayern Munich's coach explained.

External reports suggest Urbig is slated to be the second choice option for Klopp, just behind Marc-André Ter Stegen of Ajax.
