“He brings a lot of energy, drive and anticipation with him" – Kimmich feels Klopp effect ahead of Netherlands clash

Germany captain Joshua Kimmich senses a positive atmosphere ahead of Jürgen Klopp’s debut as national team coach in Thursday’s UEFA Nations League clash with the Netherlands.
“I definitely get the feeling that he is extremely excited about the job and that it means a great deal to him to do this for Germany. He brings a lot of energy, drive and anticipation with him," Kimmich told RTL and Sky.
As captain and one of the team’s most experienced players, the 31-year-old is also willing to take responsibility and help lead Germany back from their disappointing World Cup round-of-32 exit against Paraguay.
“It takes character and mentality to get the best out of this talent. I also see that as part of my job," he said.
According to the Bayern Munich star, a key factor will be getting the team’s mindset right.
“I think it’s primarily about our attitude – on and off the pitch, as well as within the group. It will be important for us to rediscover our own DNA and identity. That identity is reflected on the pitch, off the pitch, externally and internally. It shows in how we treat one another and how we play for each other on the pitch," he said.
