Leon Goretzka has long been the subject of transfer speculation, but the Bayern Munich midfielder continues to show no desire to leave the club.

With his current deal expiring next year, the 30-year-old remains committed to Bayern and is open to discussing an extension.

“If your own club offers you a new contract, that’s a sign of appreciation. So of course, you listen to that,” Goretzka said at Bayern’s Club World Cup training camp in the United States.

“So far, nothing has come yet. For now, that’s fine with me.”

Goretzka pointed to his strong relationship with head coach Vincent Kompany as a key factor in his ongoing commitment to Bayern.

“Honestly, from the start I felt a great sense of appreciation from the coach - and that’s remained the case. He is the most important person at the club for me. Our communication is very good,” he said.

“I managed to help the team last season, and I’m confident I can do so again. I’m very happy to be at Bayern.”

Asked by Sport1 whether he might initiate contract talks himself, Goretzka responded with a grin:

“There are always conversations happening - you run into each other at the buffet…”
