After three years on loan at VfB Stuttgart, Alexander Nübel’s future is up in the air.

According to Kicker, the 29-year-old goalkeeper could return to his parent club, Bayern Munich, this summer to challenge Jonas Urbig for the starting spot – provided Manuel Neuer decides to retire.

However, 22-year-old Urbig remains the clear top candidate to succeed Neuer, having already made 14 appearances for Bayern this season.

Nübel’s contract with the German champions runs until the summer of 2030.

He recently made his third appearance for Germany national team in their 2‑1 victory over Ghana national team on Monday.
