Hoeneß furious with Matthäus' valuation of Woltemade: "He's out of his mind!"
Uli Hoeneß is more than frustrated with Lothar Matthäus after the former Bayern Munich midfielder's comments on Nick Woltemade.
Speaking with German tabloid BILD, Matthäus stated a €60million fee for the Stuttgart talent is too low and €80-100million is more appropriate.
Bayern's supervisory board member Hoeneß unleashed his anger as he felt Matthäus was driving Woltemade's price up in the process:
“Lothar Matthäus is out of his mind! These experts have been a thorn in my side for a long time,” he exclaimed.
Hoeneß says Matthäus is not in charge, but, like he did with Florian Wirtz, is throwing around astronomical figures.
With such statements, he's putting pressure on Stuttgart not to give in - should they take the lower deal it would look bad on the Swabians.
Matthäus was not alone in his criticism - Kicker notes that other pundits like Didi Hamann, Fredi Bobic and Michael Reschke were included in that statement.
