Daniel Peretz’s loan from Bayern Munich to Hamburger SV has not gone as planned for the Israeli goalkeeper, who has been behind Daniel Heuer Fernandes in the pecking order at the North German club.

The 25-year-old is frustrated by his lack of playing time, and recent reports suggest his loan could be cut short so he can move to Southampton on loan instead.

However, Hamburger Abendblatt now reports that HSV are holding off on a termination of the deal for now, as they want to secure a replacement second-choice goalkeeper before giving the green light.

Peretz missed HSV’s first training session of the new year on Friday, but head coach Merlin Polzin emphasised that his absence was not related to his uncertain future.

"We are aware of the situation that concerns him and are in very intensive discussions. But this has nothing to do with his late arrival. His flight simply did not come through," said Polzin.
