Fabio Vieira once again made a difference for Hamburger SV over the weekend, scoring his side's only goal in their 1-1 draw with 1. FC Köln to take his total goal involvements to 10 this season (five goals, five assists).

Given the impact Vieira has had since joining on loan from Arsenal, it’s no surprise that HSV are keen to sign him permanently.

The challenge, however, is that the Bundesliga side cannot afford to activate the €20 million purchase option agreed with Arsenal.

As a result, they will likely try to negotiate a lower fee, with Bild reporting that HSV have set a budget in the high single-digit million range for the transfer.

According to the German tabloid, HSV have already agreed on a follow-up contract with Vieira, but finalising the deal depends on Arsenal’s willingness to compromise.

Arsenal paid €35 million to sign Vieira from FC Porto in 2022, and his contract with the London club runs until the summer of 2027.
