Saturday's 2-0 win for Borussia Dortmund away against Werder Bremen at least has some significance for Gregor Kobel.

The Swiss shot-stopper picked up a league-high 15th clean sheet of the season, equaling BVB's previous record set by Roman Weidenfeller.

"It's a wonderful thing when you play for a club like BVB and you can catch up to a goalkeeper like Weidenfeller," he said in the mixed zone.

Conceding just 34 goals in 34 Bundesliga matches, Kobel felt his teammates in front of him deserved equal credit for the achievement.

“It's a team success; we're all part of it [the effort to keep clean sheets]. I can't do much on my own, I depend on the guys up front.

“They have taken a lot of work off my hands this season,” the 28-year-old said, whilst being happy to draw level with the record set in 2011/12.
