1.FC Köln's Lukas Kwasniok confirmed during the week that are considering a swoop for Raphael Obermair from SC Paderborn.

"It's the case that I don't want to comment on some personnel matters. But with this one, there's strong interest on our part," the 44-year-old told the "Geißblogg" newspaper.

Having already worked under Kwasniok in the 2.Bundesliga and 3.Liga, the Effzeh coach would be delighted to lure him to the top flight.

“The player is 29, and it would be nice to give him the opportunity to show what he's capable of again in the Bundesliga," Kwasniok said.

Rumors about Effzeh's interest in the winger first surfaced in June, with sporting director Thomas Kessler is particularly impressed by his flexibility.

Last season, Obermair played a part in 33 games in the 2.Bundesliga where he bagged 6 goals and provided 6 assists.
