RB Leipzig have confirmed that Mohamad Simakan is leaving the club after three years.

Following reports that the Frenchman is set to move to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr, Leipzig confirmed on Friday evening that he has left the club to “join another club abroad”.

“In three years at RB Leipzig, Mo Simakan won the fans’ hearts and gave it his all on the pitch. He’s a great guy who fully identifies with the club and the city," said RB Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schröder.

"Now, Mo has decided that he wants to take his career in a different direction. We respect this and thank him for his time in an RBL kit. We’ll remember all the amazing moments. We wish him all the best for his future!”

Simakan, who featured 122 times for Leipzig, commented:

"For me, it was an honour to have the chance to play for this club, in this city and for these fans. The three years I spent at RB Leipzig were unbelievable and it was the best part of my career so far. I was able to improve a lot, and we experienced lots of special moments here together. Of course, the highlights were the Pokal wins and the huge parties afterwards!

"I want to thank the coaching team and the rest of the staff. Thank you to the team and everyone involved with the club. And a special thank you to all the RBL fans. They had my back through thick and thin and I always tried to give as much as I could back to them. There were a few legendary celebrations with our fans in the stands – for me, those are unforgettable moments.

“I’m going to miss everything about here a lot and it’ll stay in my heart forever. Once Leipzig – always Leipzig. Now, it’s time for me to embark on a new footballing adventure which I’m really looking forward to.”
